German Woman Kills "Instagram Lookalike" To Fake Own Death
A 23-year-old German woman has been accused of seeking out a lookalike of herself on social media and killing her in an attempt to fake her own death, reported Telegraph. The brutal and bizarre case has been dubbed "the doppelganger murder."
The police referred to the German woman as Shahraban K, 24, residing in Munich, who had set up a fake Instagram account and tried contacting women who resembled her. After scouting many profiles, she found a cosmetics blogger, Algerian citizen Khadidja O, 23, who lived about 100 miles away, police said.
Both the women had long dark hair and similar complexion.
According to police, Shahraban K and her boyfriend named Sheqir K, 24, reached out to Khadidja and offered beauty products and went to pick her up.
While going back, they stopped in a forest and stabbed the victim over 50 times, police said.
Shahraban K had told her husband that she was going to meet her ex-husband.
When Shahraban didn't return, her parents went looking for her in Ingolstadt and found her Mercedes near the Danube.
On the back seat of the car, the body of a dark-haired young woman brutally murdered was found and they believed it was their daughter, the Telegraph reported.
According to police, several knives were reportedly found nearby and the car was reportedly discovered not far from Sheqir K's flat.
After doing autopsy and DNA tests, it was found that the body was actually Khadidja O.
Shahraban K and Sheqir K were then arrested.
The police were baffled by the resemblance between the owner of the car and the dead.
Veronika Grieser, an Ingolstadt prosecutor, told the Bild newspaper: "It has been confirmed that the accused had contacted several women via Instagram before the act who seemed to look similar to her.
"It can be assumed that the suspect wanted to go into hiding, due to internal disputes with her family, and fake her own death."
A police spokesman said the killing was done for "base motives."
The spokesman said: "During the return journey, the victim was lured out of the vehicle as planned under a pretext and killed in a wooded area with a large number of stabs in the body.
"The accused then continued their journey to Ingolstadt, where the body was found on the evening of Aug 16th. It was found lying in the vehicle."
Another police spokesman told Bild: "The murder weapon has still not been found but the burden of proof is overwhelming.
"The victim was killed with more than 50 stab wounds and her face was badly injured. That was brutal in the extreme.
"It was an extraordinary case that required all the investigators' skills. We don't have a case like this every day, especially with such a spectacular twist. On the day we found the body, we did not expect it to develop like this."

Adani Group Gets $400 Million Investment From UAE Royals In Share Sale
Billionaire Gautam Adani's embattled group clutched on to a $400-million (Rs 3,260 crore) investment by Abu Dhabi's International Holding Co. in its flagship firm's share sale to restore confidence in the conglomerate that saw nearly $70-billion rout in value after a tiny New York short seller came out with a damning report.
Gautam Adani, 60, who was third richest man in the world till a day before Hindenburg Research came out with its report on January 24 that flagged concerns about its debt levels and alleged stock manipulation, accounting fraud and the use of tax havens, has slipped to 8th position, narrowing the gap with rival Mukesh Ambani, whom he overtook in April last year, to just $4 billion.
His group late on Sunday night issued a 413-page response to the Hindenburg report in an attempt to restore confidence in the business empire but it could not cut much ice and stock prices of most group companies continued to fall and key dollar bonds sank to fresh lows on Monday.
The US short seller dismissed charges that its report on Adani Group's malfeasance was a "calculated attack" on India, saying a "fraud" cannot be obfuscated by nationalism or a bloated response that ignored key allegations.
Hindenburg released the report on January 24 -- the day on which Adani Enterprise Ltd's Rs 20,000-crore follow-on share sale opened for investors. While anchor investors poured in almost Rs 6,000 crore in the FPO on that day, the public subscription remained muted with just 3 per cent of the shares on offer being subscribed till Monday evening, according to information available on BSE.
The offer closes on January 31 and the retail investor portion -- which is the biggest chunk of the FPO -- is hardly 4 per cent subscribed.
IHC said it will invest about USD 400 million in Adani Enterprises' follow-on share sale, saying it was confident in the fundamentals of the conglomerate even after the route in share value. "We see a strong potential for growth from a long-term perspective and added value to our shareholders," its CEO Syed Basar Shueb said in a statement.
IHC is led by Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan -- the UAE's national security adviser and brother to the president.
Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) also issued a separate statement saying its investments in the group are safe. "Our total holding in the Adani group companies under equity and debt on date is Rs 36,474.78 crore. This was Rs 35,917.31 crore as of December 31, 2022. Total purchase value of these equities of the group companies, bought over the past many years, is Rs 30,127 crore and the market value for the same at close of market hours on January 27, 2023 was Rs 56,142 crore," it said
Punjab National Bank (PNB), which has about Rs 7,000 crore exposure in Adani Group entities, however, said it is keeping a close watch on the developing situation.
Earlier in the day, Hindenburg responded to the 413-page detailed statement issued by the Adani Group late on Sunday, saying it failed to specifically answer 62 of its 88 questions, and conflated the company's "meteoric rise" and the wealth of Asia's richest man "with the success of India itself".
In the Sunday evening statement, Adani group had called Hindenburg "Madoffs of Manhattan" and that its report was "not merely an unwarranted attack on any specific company but a calculated attack on India, the independence, integrity and quality of Indian institutions, and the growth story and ambition of India."
Standing by its report that alleged "fraud" at the second largest conglomerate in India run by the world's then-third richest man, Hindenburg said it disagrees with Adani group's assertion of its report being an attack on India.
"To be clear, we believe India is a vibrant democracy and an emerging superpower with an exciting future," it said.
"We also believe India's future is being held back by the Adani Group, which has draped itself in the Indian flag while systematically looting the nation." A "fraud is fraud, even when it's perpetrated by one of the wealthiest individuals in the world," it said, adding, "Adani also claimed we have committed a 'flagrant breach of applicable securities and foreign exchange laws'. Despite Adani's failure to identify any such laws, this is another serious accusation that we categorically deny."
Adani's 413-page response only included about 30 pages focused on issues related to the report and the remainder consisted of 330 pages of court records, along with 53 pages of high-level financials, general information, and details on "irrelevant" corporate initiatives such as how it encourages female entrepreneurship and the production of safe vegetables.
On Sunday evening, Adani group said the Hindenburg report was intended to enable the US-based short seller to book gains by crashing stock prices.
The report had come just as a Rs 20,000-crore share sale at the group's flagship company, Adani Enterprises, opened to anchor investors.
"All transactions entered into by us with entities who qualify as 'related parties' under Indian laws and accounting standards have been duly disclosed by us," it had said late on Sunday.
"This is rife with conflict of interest and intended only to create a false market in securities to enable Hindenburg, an admitted short seller, to book massive financial gain through wrongful means at the cost of countless investors." Hindenburg reiterated that it was short on the Adani group through US traded bonds and non-Indian-traded derivative instruments.
In the January 24 report, it had called out the conglomerate's "substantial debt", which includes pledging shares for loans; that Adani's brother Vinod "manages a vast labyrinth of offshore shell entities" that move billions into group companies without required disclosure; and that its auditor "hardly seems capable of complex audit work".
Hindenburg, which is known for having shorted electric truck maker Nikola Corp and Twitter, said the Adani group has responded to its questions on the source of billions of dollars that have flowed from Vinod Adani-associated offshore shell entities saying it is neither aware nor required to be aware of the source of funds.
Vinod Adani is the brother of Gautam Adani.
Separately on Sunday, Adani Group CFO Jugeshinder Singh had expressed confidence in the follow-on public offer of Adani Enterprises sailing through.
He likened the behaviour of Indian investors participating in the sell-off to the colonial-era Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar.
"In Jallianwala Bagh, only one Englishman gave an order, and Indians fired on other Indians," Singh told the Mint business daily, when asked why the market believed the Hindenburg report. "So am I surprised by the behaviour of some fellow Indians? No." At least 379 people were killed when Gen. Reginald Dyer on April 13, 1919, ordered about 50 Indian army soldiers to shoot at unarmed, peaceful civilian protesters.
Since Tuesday's close last week, shares of Adani Total Gas tanked 39.57 per cent, Adani Transmission tumbled 37.95 per cent, Adani Green Energy declined 37.93 per cent, Ambuja Cements went lower by 22.28 per cent and Adani Ports fell 21.55 per cent on the BSE.
In three days, shares of ACC tanked 18.47 per cent, Adani Enterprises fell 16.38 per cent, Adani Wilmar dipped 14.25 per cent, Adani Power (14.24 per cent) and NDTV (14.22 per cent).
The group firms have collectively lost over Rs 5.56 lakh crore in market valuation between Tuesday last week and Monday.

Fans Spot Selena Gomez's Hands Shaking In Video. She Explains The Reason
American singer and actor Selena Gomez had to reiterate her lupus diagnosis to fans after they pointed out her 'shaky' hands in a recent Tik Tok video. Lupus can harm the skin, kidneys, heart, nervous system and blood cells.
In early January, the singer posted a video of applying products to remove makeup, which included gently washing her face with a towel. But Selena was trolled as her hands were shaking in the video.
Addressing the issue, Selena said to a fan, "I shake because of my medication of lupus," and added "Also read my disclaimer. I ain't no pro," reported by E News.
The 30-year-old has been vocal about her experience with lupus--an autoimmune disease--since she was diagnosed in 2014. As a result of the illness, Selena underwent a kidney transplant in 2017.

However, Selena, who has also spoken about her bipolar disorder diagnosis in the past, refuses to be weighed down by her health battles. As she states in the documentary, her focus remains on embracing and loving herself.
"I found having a relationship with bipolar and myself, it's going to be there," Selena said. "I'm just making it my friend now. I think I needed to go through that to be who I am and I am going to keep going through it, but I'm really happy. I'm at peace. I'm angry. I'm sad. I'm competent. I'm full of doubt. I'm a work in progress. I am enough. I am Selena," said the pop queen.

Watch: 'Slumdog Millionaire' Inspires Figure Skater To European Title
Georgia's Anastasiia Gubanova was crowned European figure skating champion on Saturday after a memorable performance to the soundtrack of the movie blockbuster "Slumdog Millionaire". Despite an error on a triple flip, the 20-year-old triumphed ahead of Belgium's Loena Hendrickx who had started as favourite in the absence of Russia's banned skaters. "I'm in shock, but the work paid off," said Gubanova, dressed in a bright outfit to resemble a sari, after winning the free program in Espoo, Finland.

She had already won the short program and finished the competition on 199.91 points.
"I was so stressed before skating, and mentally it was very hard," added Gubanova who had represented Russia until 2021.
"At the end of my performance, there were a lot of emotions."
Having finished 11th at the Beijing Olympics then sixth at the world championships last year, Saturday's win was comfortably the biggest of Gubanova's career.
Hendrickx, runner-up at the worlds, had been the favourite to succeed the banned Kamila Valieva as champion.
But the Belgian fell heavily twice on Saturday.
"I'm not happy at all. I wanted to do a good program and I didn't. I'm very disappointed," admitted the 23-year-old.
Hendrickx was more than six points behind the champion while Swiss 16-year-old Kimmy Repond was third with 192.51 points after a faultless routine to music from British rockers Muse.

Man Poses As Bureaucrat In PM's Office, Case File
The CBI has registered a case against one Ankit Kumar Singh for allegedly impersonating a secretary in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) handling the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency and seeking favours from senior government officials.
The federal agency acted on a complaint from Assistant Director in PMO Anil Kumar Sharma, officials said.
The case has been handed over to the CBI's Special Crime unit, headed by Joint Director Viplav Kumar Choudhry, who was awarded the President Police Medal for distinguished service on Republic Day, they added.
In its complaint, Mr Sharma has accused Mr Singh of claiming himself to be Dinesh Rao, a 1997-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Bihar cadre, and posted as a secretary in the PMO who looks after Varanasi district in Uttar Pradesh.
"His mobile number is XXXXXXX098 and he is learnt to have contacted Prabhu Narayan Singh, District Magistrate, Agra, Uttar Pradesh, seeking favours for 'his constituency'. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of impersonation as a PMO official since no official by this name is posted in this office," Mr Sharma said.

Decluttering Queen Marie Kondo Has "Given Up" On Keeping Her House Tidy
Marie Kondo, whose name has come to represent ordering, getting rid of clutter and "sparking pleasure," has acknowledged that even she is not able to maintain a spotless home once her third kid was born in 2021. The queen of organising admitted that she has "sort of given up" on maintaining her home immaculately clean, during a webinar, as per a report in the Washington Post.
"My home is messy, but the way I am spending my time is the right way for me at this time at this stage of my life," she was quoted as saying by the outlet.
"Up until now, I was a professional tidier, so I did my best to keep my home tidy at all times," she stated. Ms Kondo said that she realises what is important to her now. "I have kind of given up on that in a good way for me. Now I realise what is important to me is enjoying spending time with my children at home," Ms Kondo added.
The author's organising technique, known as the KonMari method, helped her many followers empty their homes of clutter and, in Ms Kondo's opinion, change their lives. As a result, she became well-known across the globe. She wrote a book on the technique and Netflix even made a series on it.
She further said, "Tidying our homes, tidying our environment is also a way of tidying our minds." Ms Kondo asserted that by organising our hearts and brains, it becomes evident what we truly desire and added that they are the things she is now struggling with.

"In 1962...": S Jaishankar's China Dig At Rahul Gandhi On "Territory Loss"
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar today claimed the land that opposition leaders say has been occupied by China "was in fact occupied in 1962", in a reference to the war when Jawaharlal Nehru was prime minister. He also took a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who recently spoke about an official report on loss of territory in Ladakh.
"Sometimes they spread news that they know is false. They project as if it happened just now, when it, in fact, happened in 1962... They won't talk about that," he said, referring, according to news agency ANI, to China's version of events. His "they" reference may have been to opposition leaders' recent remarks too.
On loss of territory, recently Rahul Gandhi was among those who cited a report by a senior police officer in Ladakh that said India has lost access to 26 of 65 patrolling points in Eastern Ladakh. The report was filed at a conference of the country's top police officers in Delhi, attended by PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.
But Mr Jaishankar sought to counter it, speaking at the Saturday event in Pune.
"Also, if I would need to know something (on China), I won't go to the Chinese ambassador to get inputs, but to my military leadership," he added, furthering the dig by referring to Rahul Gandhi's 2017 meeting with the envoy when the two countries were in a standoff.
Mr Gandhi had clarified at the time: "It is my job to be informed on critical issues. I met the Chinese Ambassador, (India's) Ex-NSA (National Security Adviser), Congress leaders from NE (North East) and the Bhutanese ambassador."
At the Pune event, the Foreign Minister also spoke about overseas news outlets using adjectives such as "Hindu nationalist" for India's BJP government. "In America or Europe, they won't say Christian Nationalist... these adjectives are reserved for us," he said.
He added that he is proud of it. "If you look at the last nine years, there is no doubt that government and politics of the day are more nationalistic... I don't think there is anything to be apologetic about it," said the minister, speaking in Hindi, at the release of 'Bharat Marg', the Marathi translation of his book 'The India Way'
His comments on foreign media come when there is a row over a BBC documentary on the PM, 'The Modi Question', that speaks about the 2002 Gujarat riots, when he was Chief Minister, and the BJP's allegedly communal politics.
The central government has denounced the two-part docu-series as a "propaganda piece" designed to push a discredited narrative.
In his remarks in Pune, Mr Jaishankar did not speak on this specifically, but said that "everyone in the country is connected with PM Modi during India's G20 presidency".
India has got the headship of the international group for a year as part of a rotation system.

EY To Fire 380 Workers, Cut 40 Partners To Improve Profitability: Report
EY said it plans to cut jobs and eliminate costs in Germany after its failure to detect suspected fraud at Wirecard AG, the electronic payments company that collapsed in 2020, shook confidence in the auditor.
The management board of EY Germany has decided to make “various structural changes subject to co-determination,” the company said in response to questions from Bloomberg. “The focus is on personnel measures and reductions of non-personnel costs.”
The Financial Times reported earlier that EY Germany plans to cut 40 partners and fire 380 staff to improve profitability.
EY has lost several mandates in the wake of Wirecard's collapse, which left investors with billions of euros of losses. The payments company imploded after saying cash amounting to a quarter of its balance sheet probably never existed. The scandal exposed shortcomings at auditors, regulators and banks who failed to catch Germany's biggest corporate fraud in decades.
German companies tend to consult worker representatives when eliminating jobs for reasons other than individual conduct. EY Germany has started talks with the relevant body and “the planned adjustments should preferably take place in form of voluntary solutions under a mutual understanding,” the firm said.
“The planned measures are intended to put EY Germany in the strongest possible position for future success,” the company said.

Hyderabad University Students Screen BBC Series On PM, 'The Kashmir Files'
The Students Federation of India (SFI) on Thursday organised the screening of the controversial BBC documentary on the 2002 Gujarat riots at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) here even as the RSS' student wing, ABVP showed the controversial film 'The Kashmir Files', on the campus.
The Fraternity Movement in UoH campus, a students' group, had earlier organised the screening of the BBC documentary "India: The Modi Question" on January 21, at the varsity campus without prior notice or permission, prompting the University authorities to seek a report on the incident for taking necessary action.

The screening of the documentary "India: The Modi Question", the access to which was recently blocked by the Centre on social media platforms, was earlier announced by the SFI at the university campus.
"Glimpses from the successful screening of the documentary 'India: The Modi Question' organised by SFI HCU on the Republic Day following the call of SFI CEC. More than 400 students turned up for the screening, rejecting the false propaganda and the attempts of ABVP to create unrest and the administration to disrupt the screening of the documentary. SFI-HCU salutes the student community who have stood for freedom of expression and campus democracy," a social media post by SFI HCU said, tagging the photos.
UoH, is also known as Hyderabad Central University (HCU).
Countering it, the students of ABVP HCU organised the screening of 'The Kashmir Files,' on the university campus today.

Written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the Bollywood film depicts the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir following systematic killings of people from the community by Pakistan-backed terrorists.
UoH Registrar Devesh Nigam in a statement said the Dean-Students' Welfare had counselled the student groups and issued an appeal not to do any screening of films in view of the law and order issue, maintaining peace and tranquility in campus and forthcoming end semester exams starting from next week.
However, students decided to go ahead with their programme schedule.
"We have come to know that one group held the screening in one of the hostels," he said adding the campus is peaceful.
Earlier, a group of ABVP members staged a protest in front of the main gate of the varsity and raised slogans against the University administration alleging that the security personnel did not allow them to enter the varsity premises along with the screening equipment.
They held a sit-in and sought to know from the University administration how permission was granted to the SFI to screen the BBC documentary and said they will not allow its screening.
"The University Administration tried to stop the screening of the movie 'The Kashmir Files'. When ABVP Karyakartas were bringing the projector from the main gate, University Security manhandled our Karyakartas. There was another attempt by the administration to seize our projector. We protested at the main gate and we have arranged everything for the screening. We appeal to the student community to join us in large numbers at Ambedkar Chowk (North ShopCom)," a social media post by the ABVP HCU said.
The Union government had last week directed social media platforms such as Twitter and YouTube to block links to the documentary "India: The Modi Question". The Ministry of External Affairs has trashed the documentary as a "propaganda piece" that lacks objectivity and reflects a colonial mindset.
The two-part documentary claims it investigated certain aspects relating to the 2002 Gujarat riots when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the chief minister of the state.

"Toss Mein Bataana Bhool Gaya...": Pakistan Star Takes Dig At Rohit Sharma
Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal said that he is against the policy of three captains in different formats. While making his point, Akmal took a sly dig at India skipper Rohit Sharma, saying that the all-format captaincy has already taken its toll on the star batter. To back his claim, Kamran pointed out an incident from the recently-concluded ODI series between India and New Zealand. Incidentally, during the toss of the 2nd ODI between the two side, Rohit had a brain-freezing moment as he forgot what to do after winnings the toss.
Akmal also lauded Virat Kohli for efficiently leading the Indian team for five years, across formats.
"You can have two captains, for sure. You can manage workload that way. It's not easy to captain in all three formats. Virat Kohli ki himmat hai vo 5 saal nikaal gaya, Rohit Sharma ko ek saal nahi hua aur uski haalat dekh lo kya ho gayi. Toss me bataana bhool gaya ki batting karni hai ya bowling (Virat was brave that he led the team for five years across formats. Rohit hasn't even completed a year, and you look at his condition. He even forgot at the toss if he wants to bat or bowl)," Akmal said on Salman Butt's YouTube channel.
"I don't support three captains for three different formats. You can have two captains. Also, there's no time to change a captain now, because you have a World Cup coming up. You could've made the change after the T20 World Cup last year, because the new captain would've had some experience by then," he added.
Rohit's captaincy was under the scanner last year after the Indian team failed to reach the final of the Asia Cup, as well as the T20 World Cup.
On Tuesday, Rohit ended his century drought as India defeated New Zealand to sweep the series.

"Have To Accept Reality": Future Retail Chairman Kishore Biyani Resigns
Kishore Biyani has stepped down from the suspended board of Future Retail and has resigned as chairman and director of the company, which is currently facing insolvency proceedings before the NCLT.
In his emotional farewell, Kishore Biyani, who was associated with Future Retail Ltd (FRL) since 2007 when it was incorporated, said it was facing CIRP (Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process) as a "result of unfortunate business situation".
"While the company was always my passion and I have done everything in my power for its growth, I have to accept reality and move on," said Kishore Biyani in his resignation letter to the resolution professional of the company.
The letter, a copy of which was shared with the stock exchanges, said: "As I understand, I have completed all the required handholding within my capacity for you to take over the entire control of the company and its assets and I have also completed the handover of whatever information and data, which was available with the earlier management or which could be retrieved from ex-employees or third parties and have shared with you all the insight about the business and operations and various hurdles faced by the earlier management."
FRL, in a regulatory filing, informed that Kishore Biyani has "tendered a letter of his resignation from the position of the "Executive Chairman and Director" of the company. His resignation "shall be placed before the Committee of Creditors, as per the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016", the company added.
The resolution professional of Future Retail Ltd (FRL) has received intimation through an e-mail on January 24, 2023.
Kishore Biyani, who was also known as a retail tsar in India, is known as the pioneer of modern retail in India, who took the modern brick & mortar format among the masses. FRL operated multiple retail formats in both the hypermarket supermarket and home segments under brands such as Big Bazaar, Easyday, Foodhall. At its peak, FRL was operating over 1,500 outlets in nearly 430 cities.
Kishore Biyani (61) has also assured to cooperate with the lenders.
"Needless to say, that in spite of my resignation, I would be available for all possible help, which can be done by me with my limited resources and ability to resolve any issue related to the company," he said.
FRL was dragged into insolvency proceedings by its lender Bank of India after it defaulted on loans.
The Mumbai bench of the National Company Law Tribunal had on July 2022 directed to initiate insolvency against FRL.
It was part of the 19 Future group companies operating in the retail, wholesale, logistic and warehousing segments, which were supposed to be transferred to Reliance Retail as part of a Rs 24,713-crore deal announced in August 2020.
However, lenders had rejected the takeover of the 19 Future group companies, including FRL, by Reliance amid a legal challenge by Amazon.
As many as 13 companies including Reliance Retail, Adani Group's JV April Moon Retail and 11 other companies have made it to the final list of prospective bidders for acquiring FRL.
Last year in August, stock market regulator Sebi had ordered a forensic audit of the accounts of FRL for the financial years 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has also asked for an audit of FRL's Related Party Transactions (RPT) with three other Future group firms -- Future Enterprises Ltd, Future Consumer Ltd and Future Supply Chain Solutions Ltd.
RPT refers to a deal or arrangement made between two parties related to each other by having a pre-existing business relation or common interest.

Starbucks Sells "Ajji Approved Filter Copy" For Rs 290, Internet Baffled
Multinational coffee chain Starbucks recently put up an advertisement for a new drink to their menu in Bengaluru - filter coffee. However, several internet users mocked the brand after it advertised "Ajji (grandmother) approved" filter coffee for Rs 290 plus taxes. A user took to share the advertisement and said no grandmother would agree to pay such exorbitant amount for a cup of filter coffee.
Adithya Venkatesan took to Twitter to share the picture of the advertisement and wrote, "Dear Starbucks, there's literally no ajji in god's green earth who'll approve a filter coffee for 290rs +taxes." In the advertisement, an elderly woman and a young man are shown sipping filter coffee while seated next to one other. The text reads, "AJJI APPROVED FILTER COFFEE FOR SHIVVU. Starting at 290*"
Dear Strbucks, there's literally no ajji in god's green earth who'll approve a filter coffee for 290rs +taxes. 🙏🏻 pic.twitter.com/JtPIhakJdq
— Adithya Venkatesan (@adadithya) January 23, 2023
Since being shared, the tweet has amassed six lakh views and over 15,000 likes. Many people were surprised to see the pricing.
"Literally! They are too much!" remarked a user.
"There's aspirations. Then there's dreams. And then there's nightmares disguised as dreams," added a second person.
A third person commented, "Ajji will make one hot cuppa at home for roughly 'Char bucks'"
"Also I have noticed they never have the smallest size for regular coffee available at Bengaluru airport. And you are stuck with a big cup of essentially frothy milk that takes about 25 mins to finish and costs way more than what it is worth," said a user.
A grandmother commented on the post and said she is simply "shocked." "As an Ajji, I am shocked! Home and Darshini filter coffee at less than one tenth cost have my full approval..." she commented.
"My grandma will rise from her grave and pull me by my ears if I ever try to buy filter coffee for 290 + tax" commented another person.
This comes after the company had said last year that it would expand its menu to include masala chai and filter coffee, two favourites in India.

How Long Can A Human Live? Debate Reignited After Oldest Person Dies
The death of the world's oldest person at the age of 118 has reignited a debate that has divided scientists for centuries: is there a limit on how long a healthy human can live?
After French nun Lucile Randon died last week, Spanish great-grandmother Maria Branyas Morera, 115, has assumed the title of the oldest living person, according to Guinness World Records.
Back in the 18th century, French naturalist Georges-Louis Leclerc, known as the Comte de Buffon, theorised that a person who had not suffered an accident or illness could live for a theoretical maximum of 100 years.
Since then, medical advancements and improving living conditions have pushed the limit back by a couple of decades.
A new milestone was reached when Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment celebrated her 120th birthday in 1995.
Calment died two years later at the age of 122. She remains the oldest person ever to have lived -- that has been verified, at least.
According to the United Nations, there were an estimated 593,000 people aged 100 years or older in 2021, up from 353,000 a decade earlier.
The number of centenarians is expected to more than double over the next decade, according to the Statista data agency.
The Comte de Buffon might also have been surprised by the rise of supercentenarians -- people aged 110 or over -- whose numbers have been increasing since the 1980s.
Natural limit at 115?
So how far could we go? Scientists disagree, with some maintaining that the lifespan of our species is limited by strict biological constraints.
In 2016, geneticists writing in the journal Nature said there had been no improvement in human longevity since the late 1990s.
Analysing global demographic data, they found that the maximum human lifespan had declined since Calment's death -- even though there were more elderly people in the world.
"They concluded that human lifespan has a natural limit and that longevity is limited to around 115 years," French demographer Jean-Marie Robine told AFP.
"But this hypothesis is partly disputed by many demographers," said Mr Robine, a specialist in centenarians at the INSERM medical research institute.
Research in 2018 found that while the rate of death increases with age, it slows down after 85.
Around the age of 107, the rate of death peaks at 50-60 percent every year, the research said.
"Under this theory, if there are 12 people aged 110, six will survive to be 111, three to be 112, and so on," Mr Robine said.
A numbers game
But the more supercentenarians, the higher chance a few have to live to make it to record ages.
If there are 100 supercentenarians, "50 will live to be 111 years old, 25 to 112," Mr Robine said.
"Thanks to a 'volume effect', there are no longer fixed limits to longevity."
However, Mr Robine and his team are publishing research this year which will show that the rate of death continues to increase beyond the age of 105, further narrowing the window.
Does this mean there is a hard ceiling on how long we can live? Mr Robine will not go that far.
"We will continue to make discoveries, as we always have, and little by little the health of the oldest people will improve," he said.
Other experts are also cautious about choosing a side.
"There is no definitive answer for the moment," said France Mesle, a demographer at the French institute of demographic studies (INED).
"Even if they are increasing, the number of people reaching very old age is still quite small and we still cannot make any significant statistical estimate," she told AFP.
So it might be a matter of waiting for rising numbers of supercentenarians to test the "volume effect".
And of course some future medical breakthroughs could soon upend everything we know about death.
Eric Boulanger, a French doctor specialising in the elderly, said that "genetic manipulation" could allow some people to live for 140 or even 150 years.

Google Engineer On Being Laid Off Via Email After 20 Years Of Service
Tech giant Google is laying off 12,000 employees, or 6 per cent of its workforce. Impacted by the job cut, a software engineer named Jeremy Joslin working in the tech giant since 2003 was laid off. The company gave him the news over an email.
In a tweet, Mr Joslin wrote, "It's hard for me to believe that after 20 years at #Google I unexpectedly find out about my last day via an email. What a slap in the face. I wish I could have said goodbye to everyone face to face."
In a LinkedIn post, Mr Joslin added, "I never thought it would happen like this."
On Friday, Google and Alphabet CEO, Sundar Pichai shared the difficult news with its employees. "We've decided to reduce our workforce by approximately 12,000 roles. We've already sent a separate email to employees in the US who are affected. In other countries, this process will take longer due to local laws and practices," the message read.
Mr Pichai said, "Over the past two years we've seen periods of dramatic growth. To match and fuel that growth, we hired for a different economic reality than the one we face today."
Alphabet's job losses affect teams across the company including recruiting and some corporate functions, as well as some engineering and products teams.
The news comes during a period of economic uncertainty as well as technological promise.
