The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 131.4 points, or 0.48%, to 27,452.66, the SP 500 lost 16.13 points, or 0.48%, to 3,335.47 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 32.28 points, or 0.29%, to 11,085.25.
MSCI#39;s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan edged down 0.1% in early trade. It is headed for a monthly drop of 3.3%, the largest fall since March.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 410.1 points, or 1.51%, to 27,584.06, the SP 500 gained 53.14 points, or 1.61%, to 3,351.6 and the Nasdaq Composite added 203.96 points, or 1.87%, to 11,117.53.
Australian SP/ASX 200 futures were up 0.64% in early trading, while Japan#39;s Nikkei 225 futures rose 0.21%. Hong Kong#39;s Hang Seng index futures were up 0.61%.
MSCI#39;s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan added 0.04% to 547.79, not too far from a two-month low of 543.66 hit last week.
