Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Class 6 Admission 2027-28

The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has officially opened the application window for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) for Class 6 admissions. If you are aiming for the 2027-28 academic session, it is time to get your documents ready!

In a significant shift from previous years, the exam will be conducted much earlier (in November), so early preparation is highly recommended. Here is everything parents and students need to know about the eligibility criteria, important dates, and the application process.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Students are only allowed to attempt the JNVST once. To be eligible for this cycle, a candidate must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Age Limit: The student must be born between May 1, 2015, and July 31, 2017 (both dates inclusive).
  • Current Education: The student must be actively studying in Class 5 during the current academic session (2026-27) in a government or government-recognized school.
  • Previous Education: The student must have successfully studied and passed Classes 3, 4, and 5 in full academic sessions.
  • Location Rule: You can only apply to the JNV located in the same district where the student currently resides and studies. If the student studies in a neighboring district, the school must be within a 10 km aerial distance of their permanent residence.
  • No Repeaters: Students who have already passed Class 5 previously or are currently repeating Class 5 are strictly ineligible.

📝 Application Process & Documents Required

Keep scanned copies (in JPG/JPEG format) of the following documents ready before you start filling out the form:

  1. Student's Photograph (10-100 KB)
  2. Student's Signature (10-100 KB)
  3. Parent/Guardian's Signature (10-100 KB)
  4. JNVST Study Certificate: This must be signed by the Headmaster of the student's current school (50-300 KB).
  5. Aadhaar Card (or a valid government-issued residence certificate if the student does not have an Aadhaar number).

🏨 JNVST 2027 Exam Pattern

The entrance exam is an offline, pen-and-paper test using an OMR sheet. Students must use a blue or black ballpoint pen (pencils are prohibited). The exam evaluates foundational skills, and the best part is that there is no negative marking for wrong answers.
